Bhaskar Group undertook the work of deepening and desilting a section of ponds in Bhopal from April to June 2010. These ponds used to be full of water in the past but due to the lack of rains the ponds got dried up. Regular silting of these water bodies also resulted in reduction of water holding capacity. Due to this development the residents of Bhopal faced an acute shortage of water. Dainik Bhaskar Group stood up to this challenge and started digging the silt out of these ponds. The digging and deepening was carried out by earth moving equipments. About 3,00,000 cubic meters of silt was removed to create a water holding capacity of 10,00,00,000 liters.
The village owes its name to a famous temple Nari Semri. The ground water in this village is saline and unfit for drinking. Bhaskar Foundation undertook a project of providing sweet drinking water to the village in March 2009. The water was sourced from a sweet water source about three km away from the village after boring the ground. A pump was installed to lift the water which was transported by 3 Km long pipe line upto the village. A central storage tank was made in the village to provide villagers and the temple with sweet water.
